Thelma Stallings Burns "Nonnie", age 95, of Knoxville passed on March 2, 2016. She was a Corporal in the Marines and served in WWII. Thelma was a proud and independent woman and was loved by all who met her. She was a member of Vestal United Methodist in South Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom "Curley" Burns; parents, Egbert and Nellie; sisters, Lucille and Bessie. She is survived by her sons, University Graduates, Thomas Chadwick and Mikel Stallings Burns; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Mikel Yancey and Elena Burns; great-grandchildren, Isabella Keeley and Nikolai Stallings Burns; sister, Wilda Blanch Delozier; nieces, Vicky, Kathy, and Donna; nephew, James Capps; and friend, DeeDee Thomis. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Berry Funeral Home on Chapman Highway. An 11:00am graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
