Leslie B. "Pete" Ricks , 90, has gone to be with the Lord, June 19, 2009. Born in Naples, OK May 20, 1919 to Zona Ogle Ricks and Audy B. Ricks . He was a member and Deacon of 1st Baptist Church, Galena Park. Lifetime member of American Legion Post 499. He served in the U.S.Army in WWII in N. Africa, Italy and Salerno. Pete retired from Allied Dist Co (auto parts salesman) after 35 years and continued staying busy doing volunteer work in the community. Driving the church van was a favorite activity along with collecting food for the food pantry. Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Nancy Lann Ricks . Survived by daughters Jewell Revels and husband Joe, Sharon Patterson and husband John Mechell, and son Leslie Ricks and wife Rhonda. Also 3 grandsons: Scott Patterson, Harlan Ricks and Cullen Ricks . He is also survived by one sister, Evelyn "Skeeter" Sears and husband Chuck. Services were held at Forest Park Lawndale June 22, 2009.
