Lois Josephine McCoig Cox went to be with our Lord on October 8, 2009, at the home of her devoted son Ernie Cox .
Some called her Lois , Jo, Josie, Momma, Mamaw, Sister, or Nurse, but so very many of you called her your best friend. She spent 29 years taking care of your sick children at Children's Hospital in Knoxville, a job she very much loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents Olen McCoig and Leona Mot Ledford McCoig .
She has left behind a wonderful family, including her son Ernie Cox and his wife Rose and her stepson Perry Cox and his wife Swana.
Her grandchildren are Lori and Sarah Cox , Michael, Amanda, Matthew, Alicia, and Amy, along with several great-grandchildren.
She also left behind her wonderful brothers and sister: Charles Ray McCoig and wife Alda; William McCoig , and Mary Fowler and husband Louis.
Her special nephew and nieces are Timmy McCoig , Tammy Lawson, and Tonya Owens and their children. She also left behind her kind brother-in-law Jim Cox , and a host of great friends that are too many to list.
Come and celebrate her life with us on Sunday and then again on Monday to say our farewells. However, this is not forever, because she professed Jesus Christ as her Savior so we know we will see her again.
Rev. Ed Frazier, Chad Scarbro, Mark McCoig , and James Robertson will officiate the services. Funeral services are going to be held at Open Door Church on Hwy. 25/70 at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2009, in Newport, TN, with visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Open Door Church.
On Monday, October 11, 2009, she will lie in state at Sharron Church in Knoxville from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Sharron Church Cemetery.
