Ms. Cora Nell Cogdill, age 70, of Newport passed away Saturday morning January 2, 2016 at Newport Convalescent Center.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Mary Nell Cogdill, sons Randy Cogdill, and Ronnie Black, and brother Charles Cogdill.
She is survived by her son Danny Black of Newport, grandchildren Patrick (Lorie Jennings) Black of Greeneville, Rhonda Black of Nevada, Beverly Black of Newport, great grandchildren Jada, Aubrey, Logan, Newo, brother Walter (Susan) Owenby of Kingsport, sisters Wilma Sue (Robert) Miller of Newport, and Wanda Lou (Donnie) Shaver of Parrottsville. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including special friends Mary Jackson, Tony and Julie Hawk, and David Tritt, all of Newport.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening January 4, 2016 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. At her request, Mrs. Cogdill will then be cremated. No additional services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the is requesting that donations be made to Costner-Maloy to help cover final expense.
