Myrtle Teaster, age 100 of Sevierville, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016.
She was a member of Wears Valley First Baptist Church. She was "Granny" to all who knew her.
Granny was the oldest resident of the Wears Valley Community. She was raised in the Elkmont Community of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Granny married her special sweetheart, Woodrow Teaster, in 1932. Together they had seven children. More than anything Granny loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved to cook and was known for her chicken-n- dumplings and old fashioned apple stack cake. Granny was dearly loved by her family and all those who met her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Teaster; sons, Glenn and Merritt Teaster; grandsons, Dennis Ray Trentham, Jerry Trenthem, Jackie Teaster, Gary Teaster; great-great-grandson, Jeff Trentham; mother and father, Nip and Mollie Cogdill; brother, Ashley Cogdill; sisters, Hester Noland, Ollie Maples and Anner Trentham; sons-in-law, Alvin Trentham and Kenneth Williams.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Shirley and Mary Alice Teaster; daughters-in-law, Lila and Earlene Teaster; daughters and sons-in-law, Altha Williams, Janie and Arthur Davis, Margie and Eddie McCarter, Ruby and Mayford Effler; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday with funeral service to follow at 4 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Gose and Rev. Larry Teaster officiating. Interment 10 AM Monday in Elkmont Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
