Harmo Lou Ogle, born July 6, 1925 in Gatlinburg, TN, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center, Maryville. A graduate of Pi Beta Phi High School in Gatlinburg and Knoxville Business College, Harmo began her career as a postal employee and spent 30 years in the U.S. Postal Service in Gatlinburg, as well as 15 years as General Manager and co-owner of the former Ogle’s Creek Bend Motel in Gatlinburg.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Gatlinburg, and a member of the Gatlinburg Post of the American Legion Auxiliary. Harmo was a devoted and much beloved, daughter, sister and aunt, and passed on a lifelong love of the mountains and appreciation of mountain crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Monroe and Lula Mae McCarter Ogle, and brother Van Dail Ogle, all of Gatlinburg.
Survivors:
Brothers and sisters-in-law: Herbert and Beverly Ogle of Louisville, TN and Calvin Lynn and Roberta Ogle of Greenville, SC
Nieces and nephews: Kathy Goodfriend, Phil Ogle, Tracy Gormley, Dail Ogle, Julia Turlington, Calvin Ogle, and Beverly Grant and their families.
Graveside service and interment will be held 10: 30 AM Monday in Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge, TN with Rev. Larry Burcham officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
