Donald M. McMurray, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at Shannondale Healthcare Center. He was born on April 5, 1926 in Maryville, TN. Don was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family was the most important thing in his life. Don was a veteran of WWII Battle of the Bulge, and he was an engineer for Dairymen, Inc. He enjoyed wood-working and building furniture for family and friends. In addition to providing his family with his craftsmanship and talent, Don loved to make everyone laugh with his corny, yet charming jokes and poems.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Minnie McMurray, and Don was the last child of ten in his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Almeda McClure McMurray; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Sue McMurray, Ronald and Maria McMurray, Brian and Jeanne McMurray; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Brad Beshore; grandchildren, Brigette Barham and husband John, Nathan McMurray, and wife Kymbr, Bradley McMurray and wife Jennifer, Zach McMurray, Sydney Beshore, Brennan McMurray, and Jordan Beshore; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Mantooth officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.
