Lowell Henderson Gregory age 71 of Townsend passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a faithful member of Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea for one year. He retired from Alcoa after 30 years of service, having been involved in the research and development of The New Alcoa Process. His involvement with the design and development of the chemical plant in Palestine led the family to Texas. Later he retired from the Rockdale, Texas facility where he served as the power plant supervisor. While working in Texas he served as consultant for Dow Chemical and served as a design consultant in Great Britain for the Magnesium Plant in Calgary, Canada. Preceded in death by: parents, Henry & Rose Gregory; brother, Wayne Gregory; Granddaughter, Erin Gregory. He is survived by: wife of 49 years, Wilma; son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Linda of Lumberton, TX; daughter & son-in-law, Leigh Ann & Ronnie Hatfield of Palestine, TX; daughter, Kay Gregory of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth & Loreta Gregory, Douglas & Brenda Gregory, and Cline & Elaine Gregory all of Maryville. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2007 at Smith West Chapel. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Ken Abbott officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Mattox Cemetery for the interment. Pallbearers will be: Gene Miller, Charles Jennings, Max Coulter, Grandsons, Shawn & Jared Gregory & Jake White.
