Miriam " Mimmi " Inman Hollingsworth , 84 , of Oak Ridge , died Wednesday , March 20 , 2002 , at her home .
Mrs. Hollingsworth was the widow of Walter S. "Bill" Hollingsworth. She and her husband came to Oak Ridge in 1942 from Lockhart, S.C., with several family members and friends. Their home on Amherst Lane during the war was a gathering place where friends enjoyed Southern cooking and hospitality, her family said.
The couple returned to South Carolina in 1946 but found their way back to Oak Ridge in 1953.
Mrs. Hollingsworth worked at several locations in town including J.C. Penney Co., the F.W. Woolworth Co. and the Anderson County Clerk's office. She loved to sew and made most of her clothes and those of her two daughters. Her family said she made quilts for most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved the ocean and vacation time for the family was usually spent on the beach in either South Carolina or Florida.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Go-Getters as long as she was able to attend.
Mrs. Hollingsworth is survived by two daughters, Anita (Mrs. Tom) Mooty of Wartburg and B. J. Chumley of Oak Ridge ; and four grandchildren, Rick Davis and his wife, Sherry, of Morrow, Ga., Ed Mooty and his wife, Shawn, of Statesville, N.C., Jolynn Doty and her husband, Cal, of Greeneville and Lisa Ottinger and her husband, Larry, of Parrottsville.
She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Sean Moody, Caitlin Mooty, Charlee Doty, Savanna Doty, Cassie Reimche, Christina Reimche, Grace Ottinger and Jack Ottinger.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. E.C. Vestal and the Rev. Roy Langley officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
