June 22, 1923 - January 3, 2016 Joyce Elmore Lockett, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2016 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Powell, TN. Joyce was born on June 22, 1923 in Knoxville, TN to Ed and Nina Elmore. She and her husband, Henry ran a family owned grocery store for over 25 years in Knoxville and when the store closed after his death she volunteered at UT Hospital for nearly 20 years. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nina Biddle Elmore Myers; husband, William H Lockett, Sr.; sons, Gary R Lockett and William H Lockett, Jr. She is survived by her grandson, Bryan and wife, Jessica Lockett of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Zoe and Benjamin Lockett; brother, Edgar Elmore; brother and sister-in-law, George and Geneva Elmore of Pine Mountain, GA; sisters, Billie Owensby of Bluefield, WV and Mary Nell Miller of Montgomery, AL. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Family and friends will follow in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery for a 1:30pm graveside service.
