Gary ( Pete ) Phillips , age 66, of Newport went to be with the Lord Monday evening in Newport following a motor vehicle accident. Pete was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Creed Phillips and one brother, Harry Phillips . Surviving Pete are his mother, Vada Phillips of Newport; four sisters, Barbara O'Daniel of Newport, Kay and husband, Ernest Parker of Morristown, Louise and husband, Alton Towe of Mineral Bluff, GA and Sue Woods of Newport. Pete will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends Friday May 20, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday May 21, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Parton and Rev. Tommy Wallen officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Gary ( Pete ) Phillips .
