Pattys celebrate 60th anniversary
Roy and Eleanor (Adams) Patty, of Wears Valley, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Feb. 28 with a family dinner at Maxwell's Restaurant in Gatlinburg.
The couple were married Feb. 28, 1947, in Wears Valley. The Rev. O.C. Craig officiated.
Their family includes son Ronald Patty and wife Charlotte. Their grandchildren are Tony Patty and wife Tracy and Kim McCarter and husband James. They have four great-grandchildren, Andy Patty and Austin, Taylor and Sarah McCarter.
Mr. Patty is retired from Autowize Auto Parts, the Old Wonderland Hotel in the Smokies and Wonderland Lodge in Wears Valley. Mrs. Patty is a retired teacher from Blount County Schools.
They enjoy traveling and outings with family. Since retirement, they have visited 46 states, five provinces of Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Roy Charles Patty, age 86 of Wears Valley, went to be with the Lord, Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Maryville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of the Wears Valley First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. Roy served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked in auto parts for R.T. Clapp Co. and Autowize. After retiring, he became the desk clerk at the Wonderland Hotel in Elkmont for many years until it’s closing, then at the new Wonderland Hotel in Wears Valley. He was a member of the Mountain Star Lodge No, 107, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Kerbela Shriners of Knoxville. He was also a member of the Wears Valley Volunteer Fire Department where he served as the dispatcher since the start of the department in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Effie Patty; sisters Brazil Cromwell, Carmell Kidd, and Dorothy Huffstetler; brothers Ray and Ralph Patty; and father and mother-in-law Burl and Mae Adams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Eleanor Adams Patty

Great Grandchildren: Austin McCarter, Andy Patty, Taylor McCarter, and Sarah McCarter

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wears Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 3339 Mattox Cemetery Road, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862.
Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Brother John Troutman officiating. Family and friends will meet 2 PM Thursday at Headrick’s Chapel Cemetery for interment. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
