Beulah Lee Owenby, age 77, a lifetime resident of Newport, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Beulah attended First Baptist Church Sevierville.
Born in 1938, Beulah received her Bachelors of Education from Carson Newman College in 1961. Beulah was an educator in Cocke County for thirty-eight years. Throughout her tenured career, she taught elementary school at Bridgeport, Hartford, Grassy Fork and Edwina. Teaching was her calling and her mission field.
She is survived by son, David Owenby, daughter-in-law, Amy and granddaughter, Chloe; sisters Sharon Owenby, Barbara Barnes, Betsy Perry, Brenda Frazier and spouse Charles; and sisters-in-law Pauline Owenby and Rosie Owenby; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Donalee and Bethona Owenby, brothers Bill Owenby and Bobby Owenby.
Family will receive friends from 5p.m.-7p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home in Newport, TN and from 4p.m.-6p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church Sevierville, TN.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church, Sevierville on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 6p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to First Baptist Church, Sevierville Youth Ministry or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery at 2p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2016.
Brown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
