CARDWELL, WAYNE H., SR. - age 78, of Loudon, formerly of Sevier County, passed away Tuesday Morning, January 5, 1999 at The Fort Sanders Hospital. Wayne was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mollie Conner Cardwell; wife, Ruth H.
Cardwell; son, Wayne Cardwell, Jr.; brothers, Clyde, Leonard and John Cardwell. After graduating from Gatlinburg High School, he attended ETSU for one year. World War II veteran, serving in The U.S. Navy
1942-1945. Former Manager of Emory's & Lay's Variety Stores of Lenoir City. Owned and operated Cardwell's Five & Dime Store in Loudon. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Cardwell Coffey and husband Bill of Lenoir City, Vicki Cardwell Hill and husband James of Knoxville; grandchildren, Keith Bledsoe and Marcie Bledsoe, both of Lenoir City; sisters, Trula Yarberry and Irene
(Babe) Ogle, both of Knoxville, and Buna Butler of Sevierville; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in Hawkins Chapel with Rev. Rick Harrell officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday in The Laurel Grove Cemetery in Sevier County. Hawkins Chapel, Lenoir City, in charge.
