BROOKVILLE, Ind. - Ellen M. Ball, 86, of Brookville died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Ind.
Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Harlan County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John R. and Serilda ( Napier ) Houston.
On April 27, 1940, she became the wife of Joshua Ball, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1996.
She was retired from Sperry Rubber in Brookville, where she had been employed for more than 23 years. She was a devoted Christian and had attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Willa Jean Henson, Lorene Dunn and Brenda Martin, all of Brookville, and Juanita Linkel of Batesville; two sons, Wesley Ball of Brookville and Charlie Ball of Honea Path, S.C.; one brother, Benson Houston of Batesville; and 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Donald Ball, as well as 15 brothers and sisters.
Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral Home with burial following in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
