STANFILL , CHARLES V. , SR. age 85 of South Knoxville, passed away March 15, 2012 at his home. He was a member, deacon, and Sunday School Teacher of Sevier Heights Baptist Church for 44 years, and a member of South Knoxville Optimist Club. Retired from Colonial Freight Systems as an accountant. Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed aboard the USS Wedderburn (DD684). Preceded in death by parents, Miller and Sarah Stanfill , and sister, Gertha Cox. Survivors include wife of 59 years, Essie Stanfill ; son, Charles, Jr. (Chuck); daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Charles Rauhuff ; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Rhonda Stanfill ; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Arvid and Barbara Stanfill , Lonnie and Marty Stanfill , Tom and Betty Stanfill , Howard and Karah Mae Stanfill ; brother, F.D. Stanfill ; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Audra and Mayford Rose. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with service to follow at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday school class, the "Come and Dine Class". In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sevier Heights Baptist Church c/o Disaster Relief or Homebound Ministries. Family and friends will meet Monday, March 19, 2012 at Berry Funeral Home at 12 Noon and proceed in procession to Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at John Sevier Hwy for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service.
