SHIPLEY , MRS. MABEL V. FADDIS - of Jefferson City, formerly of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dandridge. Mrs. Shipley was a talented musician having studied, played, and taught piano most of her life. She was a long-time church pianist and organist, Sunday School teacher, and youth worker. She assisted her husband in organizing and developing a Youth Choir and Youth Orchestra which performed for various services of the church. Mrs. Shipley attended the University of Tennessee and Business College and became employed by Tennessee Valley Authority, where she worked for several years in the Division of Personnel. After some time, she decided to take early retirement, so she and her husband could spend more time traveling. They both enjoyed nature, where they did hiking, camping, and fishing with their children and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-nine years, John Robert Shipley her precious daughter, Linda Shipley Blackburn parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Faddis sisters, Margaret Faddis Hodges, Juanita (Judy) Faddis Tait, Cecelia Faddis Hubbs, Hazel Faddis, Barbara Jane Faddis, and brother, Tillman Faddis, Jr. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert M. and Barbara Shipley of Dandridge, John D. and Terry Shipley of Knoxville grandchildren, Steven Shipley of Dandridge, Vicki Shipley Bogart of Atlanta, Matt, Chad, Richard, and Lauren Shipley of Knoxville, and Rachel Blackburn of Lexington brother, James E. Faddis of Knoxville, and several nieces and nephews. who were very dear to her. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Family and friends will meet at the West Adair entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery 10:45 a.m. Friday for interment at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dandridge. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
