STALLINGS , CHARLES " DEXTER " age 84 of Powell passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Powell and graduated from Clinton High School. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association for over 50 years, Secretary Treasure and Director of Tournaments. Dexter was the first Tennessee inductee into the NHPA Hall of Fame. He went 28 years without missing a tournament. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling. He pitched and bowled in the Senior Olympics and won many awards. He was a kind and generous man, made lots of friends and touched many lives. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. Fred and Minnie Stallings ; brothers and sisters, Lillian, Ether, Wilburn, Carl, Lena, and Dorothy; and grandson Tyler Stallings . Survived by devoted wife of 59 years Lois; daughter, Melba Archer; son, Charlie Stallings ; grandchildren, Jason Stallings , Blake Archer (Amanda), Logan Archer, Jake Stallings and Jessi Stallings ; great grandchildren, Paige, Aimee, and Casey Stallings ; sister, Joyce Lee, uncle, Hubert (Bobbie) Stallings ; brother-in-law, R.E. Rouse (Helen); several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Logan, Blake, Jason, Jake, Greg Sims and Paul Stallings . Family will receive friends Friday 5:00-7:00 pm at Weaver's with chapel service to follow at 7:00 pm. Family and friends will meet 11:45 am Saturday at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for a 12:00 pm interment.
