SUSONG , DAVID EDGAR "D.E.," JR. - age 72, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Greeneville, died Thursday, January 14, 1999, at Fort Sanders Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Mr. Susong was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Susong , Sr. He was a member of the New Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict as a member of the medical corp. He was a member of the Greeneville Lodge #3 F&AM, the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies, VFW, Andrew Johnson Post #1990, the American Legion Post 0064 and the Loyal Order of Moose. Survivors include: Betty Lou Susong of Greeneville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Kenneth C. and Jean Susong , Bob and Emma Frances Susong , all of Greeneville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Brown of Maryville, Eva and Wayne Thompson of Fairfax, Va., and Elizabeth and James Shanks of Greeneville; 14 special nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews. Friends may meet at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 1999, for the graveside service at 2 p.m., Dr. Kenneth Verran will officiate. Active pallbearers will be: nephews, Joe Susong , Dr. Jim Shanks, Jr., Tommy Brown, Dr. Rob Brown, Jim Brown, Rick Smith, Mike Gosnell and Mike Helle. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., on Friday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the New Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 5155 Asheville Highway, Greeneville, TN 37743.
