JOYCE C. PEAK, age 77, of Newport, TN (Point Pleasant community) passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2009 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett Calfee and Mae Fox; loving husband of 38 years, Henry Lee Peak; and daughter-in-law, Martha Jane Peak. She is survived by her sister, Lenora (W.E.) Rines of Newport and their daughter, Twyla Ivens and her children, Chloe and Madason; sons, Craig, Troy (Donna) of Newport; and daughters, Kyra (Randy) Galler of Newport, Lita (John) Dossey of Nashville and Katherine (Harold) Russell of Morristown; nine grandchildren, Sarah Peak, Kevin and Kelly Peak, Cory, Jared and Garren Galler, Andrew and Katie Dossey, Tina and Donna; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Thanks also to special friend, Eilene Beagle. Joyce was a life long member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, member of W. M. U., song leader, and many other positions of leadership. She was known as "Gram" by her family and many friends. She never met a stranger, as anyone who knew her will tell you, and truly lived by the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Point Pleasant Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. Graveside interment service will be Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the church cemetery.
