Gaines , age 72, died at home on September 5, 2001. He was born July 11, 1929 in DeQueen, Arkansas to Hiram A. Gaines and Berta (Warnix) Gaines . Billy was married to Wanda ( Barrett ) Gaines on March 15, 1953 in Tabler, Oklahoma. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda ; son, Billy and his wife Lisa of Oklahoma City; daughter, Kimbra and her husband Kurt Davis of Denver; 4 grandchildren: Meggan Davis, Brandon Gaines , Calvin Davis and Jeffrey Gaines ; 1 nephew, Thomas Richter and his wife Yana and son Evan; 2 nieces: Pat Burgin and her husband Butch and their daughter Nicole, and Liz Richter and her husband Zan White and daughter Lyzantha; and many cousins. His sister Josephine Richter preceded him in death. Billy received a BS in Business from OCU and an ICC Practicioner license. He worked at Santa Fe Trails, Mid Continent Freight System, American Freight System and retired from the State Corporation Commission. He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Bergall submarine. His wife's family of 4 brothers, 2 sisters, many nieces, nephews, and cousins became Billy's family as well. Billy was a man of his word and had true empathy for anyone less fortunate than he. He loved family. He loved his pastor, Dr. Frank Tunstall and enjoyed immensely participating in the Feed the Hungry ministry through NW Christian Center. Services will be held Friday, September 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Capitol Hill Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Feed the Hungry Fund at NW Christian Center.
