Funeral services for Paul E. Byers, 21, who was killed in an automobile accident 10 miles north of Lawton early Monday morning are to be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the chapel of the Chickasha Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Byers and Claude Raymond Woods, 22, Fletcher, were killed in the accident and three other Fletcher and Sterling men suffered severe injuries, The five men, all occupants of the car driven by Byers were en route to Fort Sill, where they were employed on a construction project, when the accident occurred. Highway patrolman, O. M. Kizziar said the accident apparently happened when Byers lost control of the auto as he attempted to pass another machine.
For the past six years Byers had been a resident of Chickasha, coming here from Blanchard.
Surviving members of the family include his wife, Velma; a son Paul S., both of 923 Iowa Avenue; parents Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Byers of Santa Monica, Calif.; sister Mrs. Leslie Rogers of Glendale Ariz., and seven brothers, Bud of Amarillo, Boots of Termett, Texas, Richard of Abilene, Vester of the Hawaiian Islands, and Bill, Bee and Jerry of Santa Monica.
