Maxine (Mama Max) Cline went to sleep at home in Gruver, Texas and woke in the arms of Jesus on January 4, 2009.
Maxine, was born on February 23, 1931 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Darrel and Merle Cooper. Raised and lived in Gruver her whole life. As a child she idolized her beloved Daddy and followed him everywhere. Ranching and farming continued to be an important part of her life . She was a part of the Gruver High School girls basketball team and the first girls team to make it to the State Finals twice when she was in high school. Maxine married Orson (Hootie) Cline on February 23, 1948. Hootie preceded her in death on April 10, 1991.
Maxine was an avid bridge player and loved to travel and go on cruises. She enjoyed decorating (and re-decorating) her home. One of her favorite things to do was to SHOP! And, she could out shop ANYONE!!! But the love of her life was her family. Maxine was happiest when she was with her girls and their families. She loved her 4 grandsons with all of her heart and rejoyced in each and every accomplishment.. Her grandsons adored their Mama Max.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Dana Cline of Mustang, Oklahoma and Denise Hledik and husband Jim of Oklahoma City. She also leaves behind to mourn her passing her grandsons Dace Blankenship, Chad Hledik and Cory Hledik. Maxine's special companion Roy Byrd of Gruver, Texas, Sister-in-law Dorthy Cline of Dallas, Texas and dear friends Gwen McClain and Jim and Verna Lee Shirley also mourn their loss of Maxine.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hootie, and much loved grandson Dane Max Blankenship. When Dane Max died a part of Maxine's light died with him.
She was welcomed at heaven's gate by those that preceded her and we rejoice that she is now re-united with those she loved so fiercely. While those of us that are left are filled with a great void, we know that Maxine is finally free of pain and suffering and is safely enfolded in Jesus, and sitting beside her is her little Dane Max and husband Hootie.
Grave side services will be Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:00 in the morning at Gruver cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Bros.of Spearman.
