William O. Tomlinson, 84-year-old Nowata, Oklahoma, resident passed away at 4:08 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2003, at the St. John's Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
William O. Tomlinson began this life October 3, 1918, in Yukon, Oklahoma. Mr. Tomlinson attended the Panhandle State University and later received his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma where he had also nearly accomplished his Doctorate. Mr. Tomlinson married Wilmath Eleanor Tomlinson on February 28, 1948, in Copeland, Oklahoma. The two resided in several towns across Oklahoma and Kansas due to different teaching positions. Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson came to Nowata in 1972 where he obtained a position as Nowata High School Principal. Mr. Tomlinson was a member of OEA and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. Mr. Tomlinson loved to play golf and fish and was also a staunch Democrat who loved the opportunity to debate politics.
Mr. Tomlinson is survived by two sons, Dallas W. Tomlinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dennis A. Tomlinson and his wife, Susan, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; by one brother, Leroy Tomlinson of San Diego, California; and by two sisters, Elsie Fern (Tomlinson) Plumlee of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Etta Fay (Tomlinson) Howell of Mitchell, South Dakota.
Mr. Tomlinson was preceded in death by his wife, Wilmath on December 23, 2002, and by two sisters.
