Gruver – Roy Anson Walker, 79, died Sunday December 10, 2006. Graveside services will be Wednesday December 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gruver Cemetery, with Reverend Gary Gumfory officiating. Burial will be by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Spearman. Roy was born in Dalhart Texas May 26, 1927, to Orville and Alice Walker. He married Essie Bell Tomlinson in 1946. In 1961 he married Verna Peacock, who preceded him in death in 2003. He attended Gruver Schools and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He farmed in Hansford County until he retired to Sanford, Texas. Roy found great joy cooking for his family and friends. Roy was an avid rock and artifact collector. He loved gardening and fishing. He is survived by two sons, Larry Walker of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Allen Walker of Gruver, one daughter Toni Walker of Albuquerque, one stepdaughter Glenda Langwell of Dallas, one stepson Larry Quin Walker, a brother Ross Walker of Gruver and children’s mother Essie Bell Roberts of Edgewood, New Mexico. He is survived by 3 grandchildren. Mr. Walker is preceded in death by his parents Orville and Alice Walker, wife Verna Walker (2003), and a brother O. V.
