Graveside service for Richard Monroe Johnson, 72, of Alex, Okla., will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Alex Cemetery. RICHARD MONROE JOHNSON was born Jan. 21, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Joey and Lillie (Ogle) Johnson. He died March 29, 2012 in Purcell, Oklahoma. Richard lived in the Alex area all of his life. He graduated from Alex High School in 1958. Richard worked on a farm and worked in the oilfield as a tool pusher. He later worked for TSW, waste management, and Oklahoma Environmental Management Association. He and Renee Cofer were married July 31, 1964. Richard attended Alex United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joey Johnson, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Renee Johnson; three children, Shaun Johnson, Shelby Johnson and Tommy Johnson; four grandchildren, Shaunna, Benjamin, Morgan and Riley; great grandson, Braxton; one brother, James Johnson; four sisters, Willena Brown, Phyllis Cornelius, JoAnn Gossman and Jan Story. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 from 5-7 at Sevier Funeral Home.
