Funeral service for Uville Wenford Ogle, 74, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday November 18, 2000 at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha.
Uville Wenford Ogle was born February 17, 1926 near Tabler, Oklahoma, the son of Henry & Jessie Ogle and died Wednesday, November 15, 2000 in a farming accident.
Uville was drafted in the Army Air Force in July of 1944 before his senior year of high school. On his 20th birthday, Uville was on a ship in the Atlantic on his way to Europe. He worked for a year in Fogia, Italy as an ambulance driver. Once he returned to Chickasha, he completed his GED while hauling gasoline in the southwest part of Oklahoma.
He met and married Lavetta Dryden August 28, 1949. They both studied for teaching degrees at Central State University. Uville started the summer of 1952 as a woodworking and industrial arts teacher at Oklahoma City University. From 1952 to 1957 he worked on his master's degree from Central State University. In 1962 he was offered the position of Business Manager for Oklahoma State University's branch campus in Oklahoma City, where he worked for 25 years.On February 12, 1978 Uville was ordained as deacon at Northwest Baptist Church where they had been members for 20 years. In the summer of 1986 Uville and Lavetta moved to Chickasha to manage the 375 acres of farmland where they raise cattle. They loved to square dance and were members of the Swinging Chicks. Uville was a member of the Oklahoma Cattleman's Association and loved to help out with the 4-H and FFA.
He was preceded in death by parents, 4 brothers: Everett, Edward (Babe), Eugene and Leonard, 1 sister: Bertha Howard.
Survivors include: loving wife of 51 years, Lavetta (Dryden) Ogle of the home; 1 son, Keith Wayne Ogle and his wife Dianne of Mustang, OK; 1 daughter, Valerie (Ogle) Ferringer and her husband, Hugh of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Casie Lee Ogle, Brian Keith Ogle, Holly Marie Ogle, Ian Henry Ferringer, Mark Lawrence Ferringer; two brothers, Raymond Ogle of Blanchard and Oscar Ogle of Choctaw.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery Under direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
