William Tennyson Hansen entered his heavenly home Aug. 4, 2015. He was born to Rev. Harry G. Hansen and Lillian Tennyson Hansen on April 25, 1932, in Neenah, Wis. Bill lived his early life in the Chicago, Ill. area, then moved with his parents and younger brother, Robert Harry Hansen , to Salina, Kan.
After graduating from Kansas State University, he was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the USAF.
He married Dulcenia (Dotty) Tower on Dec. 27, 1954.
After completing three years active service he received his masters in social work at Washington University, Saint Louis, Mo. Together, Bill and Dotty raised three children. The family moved to Joplin, Mo., in 1961, where Bill was the assistant center director of the Joplin Regional Diagnostic Center, retiring in 1990. Later, he worked a few years for Head Start.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dotty; son, David W. Hansen and wife, Beth, of San Antonio, Texas; Diana M. Hansen and husband, Bruce Hansen , of Joplin; and daughter, Jill A. Lesh and husband, Jerry, of Republic, Mo. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Alex Capehart, Angel Capehart, Joey Capehart, Emily Lesh, and Timmy and Stephie Capehart; and a step-grandson, Glenn Hansen .
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Graveside services will be held at the Osborne Cemetery Columbarium at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
