Hermit Harvey "Buss" Johnson , Jr.
90, lifelong Texhoma resident; passed away Wednesday morning, July 29th, 2015 at the Heritage Community in Guymon.
The son of Hermit H. and Edith Martha (Sweet) Johnson Sr. he was born June 18, 1925 on the home-place north of Texhoma. Buss attended school in Texhoma; graduating with the Class of 1943. He attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University, was a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge, avid golfer and #1 Red Devil Fan. Buss served as a Navy Seabee in World War II, spending time in Okinawa.
He was united in marriage to Esther Pauline Yoder on June 1, 1950 at the Riffe home in Texhoma. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2007.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George Harold and Lowell " Squidge " Johnson , and two sisters, Maxine Adelle Hisey and Millie Humphrey.
Survivors include three sons, Jack Johnson and wife, Susie, Jesse Johnson and wife, Sheri and David Johnson and wife, Cindy all of Texhoma; six grandchildren, Jordan Johnson and wife, Jo, Brooke Johnson , Colby Johnson and wife, Kelli, Charissa Johnson and husband, Jared, Davey Johnson and wife, Katie, and Mychael Johnson . Survivors also include four great grandchildren, Lennon, Greer, Emma Jo, Meyer Johnson with another on the way.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning, August 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Texhoma First Christian Church with Pastor Chris Hedges officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 2 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for visitation.
The Johnson family suggest memorials be given to Texhoma High School Buss Johnson Scholarship Fund or to the Texhoma Ministerial Alliance. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
