Fay D. Smith was born April 3, 1931 in Optima, to Howard and Ethel ( Whaley ) Smith . He passed away at his home in Nickerson, Ks. on August 5, 2013 at the age of 82.
Fay retired from the Kansas Dept. of Transportation and was a US Navy Veteran serving four years.
Fay married Beverly Davis and to this union 4 children were born; Gwendolen, Gale, Troy, and Gina.
He later married Anah Marie Hinkle and added 2 step-daughtersm, Cynde and Vicky and a son of the heart, Mark Musso.
Fay is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anah Marie Hinkle Smith (2006); son, Troy Smith (1994); a brother, Lawrence Smith (2012); and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Stowell (2009).
He leaves to mourn his passing 3 daughters, Gwendolen (Bryan) Stowell of Nickerson, Ks., Gale Buckwalter (Alan Janzen), Gina (John) Scott both of Hutchinson, Kan.; step-daughters, Cynde (Dave) Wedel of Buhler, Kan. and Vicky Metz of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Delores "Sis" Cook of Hutchinson, Kan. and sister-in law, Maxine Smith of Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; son of the heart, Mark Musso and a niece and nephews.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Reno County. The family has chosen cremation.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery on Monday, August 12 2013 at 2 p.m. with Military Honors.
A Celebration of Life gathering at Fay's house will be held after the service.
Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services are entrusted with the arrangements.
