Phillip "Skip" Emert , 67, of Pendleton died Monday, May 31, 2010, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 4 at the Robert and Jerri Emert Ranch in Echo Meadows. (Contact the funeral home or Cornerstone Community Church for directions).
Mr. Emert was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Pendleton to Phillip and Barbara (Follett) Emert . He graduated from Ione High School in 1961, and received a bachelor's degree from Willamette University in Salem in 1964. He married Beverly Nelson in 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Salem.
He worked for the State of Oregon as a vocational rehabilitation counselor until 1990. He moved back to Pendleton in 1985. and after retiring became a Master Gardener, raising vegetables for the citizens of Umatilla County.
Mr. Emert is survived by his wife, Beverly Emert of Pendleton; sons Daniel Emert of Pendleton and Andrew Emert of Portland; daughter Rebecca Emert of Pendleton; sisters Delores Spor of Olathe, Colo., and Connie McMillin of Prineville; brother Robert Emert of Echo; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Senior Center or Cornerstone Community Church.
