Scott McClure, age 81, of Newport, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a veteran having served in the United States Army, a member of Cocke County Legislative Body (CLB) 33 years having been elected nine consecutive terms. He was also a teacher at Cocke County High School for 41 years, of which, 26 years he served as a basketball coach. He was preceded in death by his loving faithful wife Evelyn Maloy McClure; parents, Ovie McClure and Pearl Grooms; brother, Charles Earl Barnes; foster parents Clyde Rainwater and Jennie Ruth Rainwater. He is survived by his children, Renee & Bill Kropff of Chattanooga, Shea and Michelle McClure of Piney Flats, Trea and Michael Adams of Jonesborough, and Shalee McClure of Newport; grandchildren, Makayla Adams, Catelyn Adams, Rob Benson, Hunter Benson, Zeke Adams, Michael Adams and Mac Kropff; brothers, Otha (Millie) McClure, and Leroy Marshall; nephews, Clint McClure, Scottie (Terri) McClure, Rusty (Michele) Fox , Otha Barnes, and Jonathan Maloy, nieces, Brenda (Glen) Cameron, Tracye (Ben) Miller,and Jennifer (Jerry) Kissior. He is also survived by his extended family, Jim (Becky) Ball, Carolyn Lichlyter and Martha (Larry) Stevick; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyne (Don Ray) Fox, St. Petersburg, Florida, Joe (Betty) Maloy, Knoxville and Kenny Maloy of Columbus, Ohio; Evelyn Wilds Maloy and many other friends. Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Tom Mooty, Rev. Mike Hensley officiating, and eulogy by Mike Proffitt. Entombment will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
