Ephraim Lee Dodgen, 84 passed away Thursday, June 14 at his home surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty, and their children. He was born February 8, 1923 in what is now The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and was raised and lived in Gatlinburg area all his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William McKinly Dodgen, and Zettie Reagan Dodgen; sisters: Edith Hippensteal, Ethel Whaley, and May Manning; brother: Joe Dodgen.
He is survived by his wife Betty Cotter Dodgen, daughters: Dottie Dodgen Ball, Sara Lynne Reynolds and husband Jeff, Susan Lea Dodgen; son: William Earl Dodgen and wife Karen, all of Sevierville. grandchildren: Cherie Branagin and husband Jerry, Stephanie Dodgen and special friend Dustin Valentine, great grandchildren: Bryson and Cameron Daugherty, Carson and Bailey Lane, and Graycee Valentine; brother; Billy Ray Dodgen and wife Ruby; sister: Ola Meyers and husband Paul; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends he worked with during his life in the Gatlinburg area.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening June 16, 2007 in the chapel of Rawlings Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service which will begin at 7:00 PM in the Rawlings Chapel with the Reverends Roy Gose and John Troutman officiating. Due to the Fathers Day Holiday falling on Sunday the family wishes meet Monday June 18, 2007 at Rawlings Funeral Home at 9:00 AM to travel in procession to Headrick’s Chapel Cemetery for the interment service at 10:00. Serving as Pallbearers will be Roy Reagan, John Paul Moyers, Jackie Whaley, Vern Hippensteal, and Ed & Randy Dodgen. Friends and family may send their condolences through our website:
