Otha Lloyd Gibson of Maryville, TN, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Kingsport, Tennessee, at the age of 97 years. He was born October 8, 1917 in Alcoa, Tennessee.
Lloyd was a resident of Blount County for the majority of his life and worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company until his retirement. He was united in marriage to his wife, Eloise Pitts, on December 7, 1940. He was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed camping with his family and friends, especially in the Great Smoky Mountains and in Florida. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maryville, TN. Lloyd spent the last 8 years of his life living happily at Wellmont Madison House in Kingsport, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Pitts Gibson; son, Dr. Phillip Jay Gibson; granddaughter, Ginger Nicole Gibson; father, Charles Edgar Gibson; mother, Clemmie Enola Tipton Gibson; and brother, Ralph Eugene Gibson.
Lloyd is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Michael Gibson and Faye Wallace Gibson, both of Kingsport, TN; and granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Diane Gibson, of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by three nephews, Wayne Gibson, Robert Gibson, and Richard Gibson, all of Knoxville, TN, as well as their families.
Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, TN.
