BEASON , WOODROW "WOODY" WILSON - age 87, slipped quietly into eternal rest on October 27, 2006.Woody was born on May 31, 1919 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to D. Preston and Martha Davis Beason . From the coal mines of Kentucky to the Civilian Conservation Corps. Camp in Nevada, Woody went on to join the United States Navy and was a decorated sailor, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. He later retired from the U. S. Navy and from K-25 Union Carbide Power Plant in Oak Ridge, TN after 35 years of service.Among his greatest love was his service to the Lord at the Laurel Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and was a member for nearly 40 years. Even in his final days, Woody was an active member of the West Knoxville Kiwanis Club and was proud to have served as a past president. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Lydia Risner Beason ; son and daughter in law Jerry and Geri Beason of Knoxville, TN;daughter and son in law Vivian and John Westbrook of Jacksonville, NC and daughter Teresa Beason of Corryton, TN; grandsons Jaime Beason , Michael Hathcote and wife Joy, David Beason , Andrew Westbrook, Timothy Westbrook and granddaughter Kelly Mitchell and husband Terry; great grandchildren Jacob Beason and Elodie Mitchell;sister Bertha Beason and adoring nephews and nieces. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Mike Buckley officiating.Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.Full Military Honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans' Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Rose Mor tuar y Mann Heritage Chapel.
