TALLENT , RAYMOND SR. - age 83 of Knoxville passed away at his residence on September 15, 2004. He was of the Methodist faith, loyal UT Volunteer fan for 73 years, an Air Force First Lieutenant in World War II and retired after 38 years of service from the US Postal Service. Preceded in death by: parents, Welker and Roberta Tallent brother, Carl Tallent and sister, Margaret Roberts. Mr. Tallent is survived by: wife of 61 years, Opal Cooper Tallent sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond A. Tallent Jr. and Mary Jane, Ron E. Tallent and Pam, and Rev. Jeff L. Tallent and Cindy daughter and son-in-law, Sandra T. Sterling and Choo grandchildren, Raymond A. Tallent III (Chip) and Laura Holmes of Bethelem, GA, Joseph P. Tallent and wife Elizabeth Smith Tallent of Savannah, GA, Joshua C. Tallent and Tara McClain of Johnson City, TN, Chrissy T. Brown and husband Jason of Kingsport, TN, Shannon Sterling and Eddie Stan of Sarasota, FL great grandchildren Madeline Jane Tallent , Mary Elizabeth Tallent , and Arianna Stan brothers-in-law, Bill Roberts of Knoxville, Sam Cooper and wife Ruth of Memphis, David Cooper and wife Nancy, and Marion Simpson of Kentucky, Lee Acuff of Knoxville sisters-in-law, Lillian and husband James Pickens, Grace Cooper, Mildred and husband Fred Braden Sr., Sue Dawn, and Faye Cooper and John Gentry several nieces, nephews, and many special friends. Graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 2 PM. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
