She was a World War II Veteran, Staff Sergeant, United States Air Force Medical Technician. She was also a member of the American Legion in Largo, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Fannie Mae Walker; sister, Betty Grove, and brothers, Woodrow, Joseph, Norman, Wiley, Wendell, Richard, and Herman Walker. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Joseph L. Wachter ; foster sons, Richard Diaz of Chicago, Ill., and Arturo de Robles of Washington, D.C.; brother and sister-in-law, George and Patsy Walker of Rockford; brothers, Ira Walker of Maryville, and Calvin Walker of Knoxville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Bobbie Walker of Maryville, Buck and Wanda Walker of Rockford; sisters-in-law, Maxine Walker of Maryville, and Mildred R. Wachter of Philadelphia, Penn., and many nieces and nephews. No funeral services are planned, according to her wishes. Ms. Wachter will be cremated.
