  [S142] Newspaper Article, Asheville Citizen Times (NC), 9 Dec 2001. FAIRVIEW - Richard Beecher Allen, 83, of 7 Rosebud Lane, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at his home. A native of Sevierville, Tenn., he was a son of the late Arthur and Algeia Allen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Moffitt Allen, who died in 1996. He was a retired pipe fitter with Local Union No. 150 and served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Michael Allen of Sevierville a daughter, Julia Butts of Fairview five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Welborn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3 Louisiana Ave., Asheville, NC 28806. The memorial register is available at "Funerals Scheduled" at Groce Funeral Home.
