LATHAM, HERMAN LEE age 84 , of Knoxville , went to be with the Lord Tuesday , September 29 , 2009. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church . Herman served his country in World War II in the United States Army and received a Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge in the 90th Infantry Division. He retired from Southern Railroad after 34 years of service. Herman was an avid Lady Vols fan and a member of the Lady Vols Booster Club. Preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife of 59 years, Margaret (Maxey) Latham; son, Stan Latham; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and James Ferrell; granddaughter, Anna Ferrell. Special thank you to Shannondale Healthcare and to Dr. Teresa Catron for their loving care of our father. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 2, 2009 for an 11:00 AM graveside service.
