August Valentine, age 85, of Seymour, TN after years of life in a wheelchair is walking the streets of gold. August Lee was called home on June 5, 2007. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Sevierville and a Veteran of WWII in the Pacific Conflict as Staff Sergeant in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Nora Valentine, sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Clarence Rhea, Wilma and McKinley Whitted, Kate and Calvin Pryor, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doris Valentine, Junior Slaton, Morgan and Ruth Slaton, Steve Russell, Sam Russell, Charlie Glenn, and Rhea Fleenor.
Survivors:
Loving husband to Nancy Jane Slaton Valentine, loving Dad to Darlene and husband Mike Gilbert, Albert and wife Kathy Valentine, and Sheri and husband William Haynes. Loving grandfather to Tyler and Logan Haynes, Bryan Gilbert and Amy Connatser. Loving brother to Agnes Morrissette, Henry Valentine, Edward and Louise Valentine and Doel and Georgia Valentine. Loving brother-in-law to Florence Russell, Pearl Glenn, Johnnie Fleenor and Bobby and Beulah Slaton. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends, Garland and Zelma Rogers.
Funeral service 7 PM Friday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. W.A. Galyon and Rev. Floyd Powell officiating. Interment 11 AM Saturday in Shiloh Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
