Mr. Fred Shelton , age 76, of Newport, passed away Saturday morning, May 4, 2002, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
He was a retired truck driver and a former business owner.
Mr. Shelton attended Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Belle Franklin Shelton ; brother, Frank Shelton ; sisters, Stella Hommel, Ollie Keller, Sue Hensley, and Ruby Strange; wife, Dorothy Marie Fine Shelton ; and beloved pet Sach.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; son, Freddie Shelton , of White Pine; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Roger Williams, of Morristown, Marilyn and Ben Hogan, of Newport, Kim and Bud Tatum, of Stony Point, NC; daughters, Carolyn Shelton , of Newport, Rita Marshall, of Newport; sister, Maggie Keller, of Newport; stepchildren, Sabra Hamad, Shawna Parks, and Gabriel Taylor; grandchildren, Melissa Wise, Ralph Shelton , Chuck Shelton , Todd Shelton , Freda Shelton , Everett Gray, Patricia Ann Hall, Teddy Eugene Samples, Leslie James, Wendy Carol Smith, Julie Ann Dunn, Angela Denise Starks, and Jimmy Marshall Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and beloved pet, Liza.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Monday, may 6, 2002, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ransom Hall and Rev. Robert Hogan officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
Costner-Maloy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
