Edith Ann Scarbrough Layman, age 69 of Newport, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Lenoir City, she came to Cocke County in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Rena Adams Shults of Newport, parents, Bill and Nora Scarbrough, brothers and sister-in-law, Billy, Jr. and Johnnie Ann Scarbrough, Ray Scarbrough all of Lenoir City.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry James of Newport, brothers, Bob Scarbrough of Lenoir City, Clarence Scarbrough, Carl (Delores) Scarbrough all of Loudon County. Three grandsons whom were her life, Coty Adams, Clancy James, and Kinsey Shults and great grandson, Braxon James all of Newport. Step grandchildren, Robbie James, Miranda James, and Ben James, and several step great grandchildren. Special sisters-in-law, Judy Scarbrough, Diana Scarbrough, and Phyllis Scarbrough all of Lenoir City, special friend and sister, Rosemary Brown of Newport, and several nieces and nephews, and friends in Newport and Lenoir City.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 1pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Ball officiating. She was cremated per her request.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to family for assistance toward final expenses.
