Brenda Kay Burress, 54, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Brenda was born in Maryville, TN to Betty and Donald Carpenter. She was a fan of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball team and other UT sports. She loved Dale Earnhardt Sr. and was an avid NASCAR fan. Her survivors include her husband, Dennis Burress of Semmes, AL; her mother, Betty Jo Sparks Carpenter of Memphis; her children, Michael Thomas (Lorie Ann) Myers of Mobile, AL; and Stephanie Renee (Allen Foster) Neasby of Memphis; her grandchildren, Dasan Micah Myers, and A J Neasby; brothers, Donald Lee "Rod" Carpenter, and Charles Carpenter both of Millington; sister, Sandra Dee Turner of Cordova; step-children, Jared Burress of Mobile, AL and Sarah Burress of Bartlett. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Donald Lee Carpenter, granddaughter, Haley Tigner, and sister-in-law and cherished friend, Judy Carpenter. Officiating funeral services will be Brenda's nephew, Justin Carpenter. The family will receive friends at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 31, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Sparks Cemetery in Townsend, TN on Friday, January 3, at 2 p.m. The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 272 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38104.
