BOZEMAN , SAMUEL R. - age 83, expired December 28, 1998 in Memphis, Tennessee following surgery November 18th. He was born November 15, 1915 in Knoxville, TN. A member of Broadway Baptist Church of Knoxville. Education: Knoxville High School, Class of 1934; University of Tennessee, BS and MS Degrees; Washington State University and VPI, Ph Degree. Taught biological sciences at Michigan State University. Employed by Michigan State Health Department. Involved in the development of Penicillin. Served under Gen. McArthur in Japan during the occupation, rebuilding and reorganizing the pharmaceutical and public health laboratories. He was affiliated with Pittman-Moore, working with the Saulk Polio Vaccine and later with Lederle Laboratories. He ended his career as Executive Assistant to four Chancellors at The University of Tennessee Health Science Division in Memphis. Predeceased parents, Art C. and Mary Arnwine Bozeman and sister, Mary Katherine Bozeman . Survived by: beloved wife of 54 years, Virginia Bruce Bozeman of Memphis; brother, C. Howard Bozeman (Barbara) of Knoxville; nephews, Barry R. Bozeman (Patricia Culbertson) of California, Dr. Charles H. Bozeman (Linda) of Sevierville, David B. Bozeman (Gena) of Fairfield Glade, Samuel R. Bozeman (Dr. Megan Murray) of Cambridge, Mass.; grand nephews and nieces, Leslie, Sarah, Chad, Allison and Bryan B. Bozeman and Bronwyn and Caleb Murray/ Bozeman ; very special friends, Ted and Kay Cook of Memphis, TN. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service, Rev. Dave Ward officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
