Bozeman, Barbara Ann Newman- age 93, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Sevier County Nursing Facility. Barbara was a Summa cum Laude graduate of the University of Tennessee in Biology and was named TORCHBEARER her graduating year. She served as Editor in Chief of the Yearbook and an officer of Kappa Delta Sorority. Barbara was a devoted member of First Baptist Church with her husband of sixty-seven years, Judge Charles Howard Bozeman, the former County Judge of Knox County. Barbara shared Howard’s passion for and dedication to UT Alumni Association, Kerbela Shrine Temple, Sertoma Club and the Girl and Boys Scouts, and she raised four Eagle Scouts as well as serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Following graduation from UT she worked at ORNL during the Manhattan Project. Once her sons graduated from high school she worked as Librarian for the Knox County Schools and was on the Board of Directors for the Historic Ramsey House in East Knox County. She loved traveling, wildflowers, hiking in the mountains, and was an active birdwatching enthusiast. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed attending their events and supporting all their endeavors. Barbara was the daughter of Russell Austin and Georgia Newman of Knoxville, and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Hazel Newman Morton and Col. R.A. Newman of Knoxville. Barbara Ann Newman Bozeman is survived by her sons Barry Russell Bozeman of Knoxville, Dr. Charles Howard Bozeman II and wife Linda of Sevierville, David Bryan Bozeman and wife Gena of Crossville and Samuel Ross Bozeman and wife Dr. Megan Murray of Cambridge, MA., Grandchildren Leslie Bozeman Koester and husband Devin of Sevierville, Allison Bozeman Lawhon and husband Ben of Lyons, CO., Dr. Sarah Bozeman Lewis and husband Dr. Scott Lewis of Somerset, KY., Charles Howard Bozeman III of Sevierville, Bryan Benjamin Bozeman of Crossville, Brownyn, Caleb, and Ursula Murray-Bozeman of Cambridge MA., and great-grandchildren Kent and Maci Koester of Sevierville, Cullin Lawhon of Lyons, CO., and Owen, Evan, and Avah Lewis of Somerset, KY. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Monday March 30, 2015, at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service with Rev. Dave Ward officiating.
