SHIRLEY MAE BLACKWELL and BILLY JOE BLACKWELL "Nickel Bill" Shirley Mae Blackwell , 76, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 5, 2011 while residing in Rogersville, AL. Her husband of 57 years, Billy Joe Blackwell, "Nickel Bill", 83, followed her to heaven on February 5, 2012. B.J. and Shirley resided in Hobe Sound, FL from 1993 to 2004. They were married for 57 years and requested to be placed eternally together in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City, FL. Bill and Shirley were very involved in girlís softball umpiring in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. B.J. was known as "Nickel Bill" because he handed out souvenir nickels to softball players who made outstanding plays. Shirley was his "assistant of everything". They were quite the couple. Family and friends miss them tremendously. They are survived by three daughters, Linda Zaskey (Denny) of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Phyllis Blackwell of Huntsville, AL and Leah Gillespie of Nashville, TN; two grandsons, Tayler and Tanner Zaskey of Royal Palm Beach, FL; Shirleyís two sisters, Alma Stallion and Onalee Scalf of Knoxville, TN; Billís sisters, Kathryn A. Blackwell of Covington, LA and Betty Taylor (Luke) of Parrish, AL; and his brother, J.W. "Jim" Blackwell (Mary) of Parrish, AL Their interment will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 10:00 AM at Forest Hills Cemetery in Palm City, FL.
