Jacquelyn Haskins Webber, 85, of Newport, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends following a short illness. This followed several years of declining health.
Born in Brunswick, GA, August 29, 1929, to Phanuel “P.H.” and Ada Haskins, Ms. Webber graduated from Bradford County High School in Starke, FL- where she was captain of the basketball team. After graduation she went to work for Graybar Electric. She then worked for Virginia-Carolina Chemical Co., U.S Civil Service Commission and later pursued a career in nursing earning her degree as an LPN in 1977.
She was a faithful and supporting member of Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. In her spare time, she loved to work in her garden, sew, and was active in politics. She lived in Florida for 66 years and in Tennessee for the past 19 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Webber, parents, Phanuel “P.H.” and Ada Haskins, daughter, Jill Webber LaMon, sisters and brother-in-law, Hilda (Robert) Jackson, Doril Bryan, brother, Phanuel “Hayden” Haskins, and brother-in-law, Jim Hammock.
She is survived by son James(LaTrell) Webber of Lake Park, GA, daughter Staci(Russell) Rathbone of Newport, TN. Grandchildren, Toni Webber, Reed Webber, Monica Webber Jacobs, Jacob Rathbone, Zebadiah Rathbone, Abigail Rathbone, Gabriel Rathbone, Butch Hartman, and Krystle Lawrence, and several great grandchildren, brother Chuck(Karen) Haskins, sister, Joyce Hammock, sister-in-law, Betty Haskins all of Ocala, Fl., several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Terry Bailey, Roy Hayes, Patricia Cody, and Jerry Hall.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 6-7pm followed by a Memorial Service from 7-7:30pm at Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
