Helen S. Whaley , formerly of Chattanooga, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
She was the widow of the late Ora Joe Whaley .
Mrs. Whaley was born in Huntsville, Ala., on Oct. 10, 1919, and lived most of her life in Chattanooga. She had made Augusta her home since 1997, moving to be near her family.
She was the daughter of the late Mattie Randolph Sherrill and George Sherrill. Siblings Dan Stanton, Dorothy Wilson, George Sherrill Jr., Evelyn Sherrill, Ruth Leamon and James Sherrill preceded her in death.
Mrs. Whaley was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Chattanooga and attended the First Baptist Church in Augusta.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Whaley Tomchey, Augusta; and her dear friend Joe Ingram, Augusta; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, with the Rev. Clay Moreland officiating.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
