Ray Varner, 72, of Belton, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, at E.K. George & Sons Grandview Chapel. Graveside service and interment will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice or American Cancer Society. Mr. Varner was born on November 30, 1927, in Clarksville, TX. He was a truck driver for Conoco Clinical Services, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 41 and an Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Ella Varner, of the home; sons, William and his wife, Linda Varner, Garland, TX, Jeffrey and his wife, Heather Varner, Grandview, MO, Gregory Nash, Overland Park, KS, and Jesse Nash, Clyde, TX; daughters, Raynell Blackwell, Allen, TX, and Debbie Anderson, Mt. Pleasant, TX; sisters, Bertha and Durwood Long, Garland, TX, and Mary Jo Drury, Chalmett, LA; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. (Arrangements: E.K.
