CAWOOD , JESSE V. age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of August 22, 2009 after a long battle with kidney disease. He is now free of pain and at peace with Jesus. Member of City View Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, a Shriner, life member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1733. He owned and operated 8th Ave. Paint & Body Shop for 28 years, served on the original Knox County Court later changed to Knox County Commission for 26 years, retired supervisor from BFI, and retired court officer of Judge Dale Workman in Knox County Circuit Court. Preceded in death by parents, Bill and Lillie Cawood ; all brothers and sisters; and great-grandson, Ashton Ballard. Survived by wife of 61 years, Lucinda Cawood ; daughter and son-in-law Evelyn and Jorg Roessner of Alsfeld, Germany; son and daughter-in-law Norman and Bobbie Cawood ; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jeff Thompson; and daughter Linda Cawood , all of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Josephine and Herman Roark. Funeral service 8:00 pm Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Rev. Grant Bishop, Rev. Gene Hurley and Rev. Glenn Grubb officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:30 Wednesday morning at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City and proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for graveside service and internment with full military honors at 10:00 am.
